We are experimenting with single-dose products for chemical toilets with the aim of improving waste disintegration and lowering the BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) values of the effluent. Ongoing tests are examining whether the products can guarantee treatment of the effluent within the limits required by Italian regulations, simplifying the disposal process and containing operating costs.

Toward Compliance with Italian Regulatory Limits

The trial aims to test the ability of the products to treat wastewater in a way that meets the following parameters:

• Discharge to sewage systems: COD less than 500 mg/L.
• Discharge to surface waters (rivers, lakes): maximum COD of 160 mg/L, as stipulated in Legislative Decree 152/06 - Annex 5 to Part Three, Table 3.

If the results confirm initial hypotheses, these products could represent an innovative solution to ensure not only regulatory compliance, but also sustainability and efficiency in wastewater disposal processes.
